“Great Question” (2points)

A friend is giving us an older iPhone 4.
Mrs Squeeky is taking a trip over seas this year, all she wants the phone for is face time and maybe Google when she has WIFI , she isn’t going to activate the phone, just wants to use it like a super mini iPad.
I have a face time account on my mac, just would like to know how to set one up on this iPhone 4.

I’m not sure, so I’ll be interested to see the answers.

One option she might like to have WhatsApp on the phone if there are people she meets who she wants to stay in touch with. Most people I know in Europe and Latin America use WhatsApp. She could use WhatsApp with you also if Face Time doesn’t work. There is always Skype also.

Since Face Time uses your phone number does it charge minutes to the phone number if you are out of country?

@JLeslie I have face time on my mac lap top and desk top and it charges me nothing ,but I don’t know about a phone, and she is only going to use it when she has wi-fi available .
Mrs Squeeky likes cell phones less than I do ,but she would like to face time with me when she is on her trip.

UPDATE: WE got the phone from our friend and found out we can make a free Apple account, face time comes on the phone got it set up and works good.

Now would like to know can one delete the GPS feature from the iPhone?

You can turn it off. Why don’t you want the GPS to work? If you can use find friends then you can see where she is. I use it for my husband, dad, and sister. When my dad was in Spain I could see where he was when he was on WiFi.

Because she and her sister are going with a tour to China ,and that country doesn’t like GPS, we might get away with simply turning it off but would feel better if she could just have it deleted.
