All the lights in my house are LED currently. I’ve had mixed results. Most of them are fine and haven’t caused any problems. But I’ve had varying issues with different brands. One died after only about a year of regular use, which is no better than an incandescent. I could accept that as a fluke, but shortly after that, another one of a completely different brand died as well; it had not been there for more than a year and a half, I’m certain. Additionally, one in the living room (of a third brand) flickers occasionally, though it has been doing that for over a year and still hasn’t failed outright. While the bulb part of an LED doesn’t get as hot as an incandescent, the plastic base that the bulb part sits in gets extremely hot. And this I’ve noticed across brands.
So they’re not perfect. But so far I do prefer them overall to incandescents and fluorescents and I can only hope the technology will continue to improve.
