Foo... Bar.... WHAT?

“Great Question” (1points)

In a lot of programming examples I've noticed the variables foo and bar have crept into a lot of things. Almost as popular as making a program say "Hello World". So where did "foo" and "bar" come from? Is it a reference to "FUBAR"? and if it is...why's it not fu?

baz often comes next.

The "official" documentation is here: http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc3092 (but was issued on 1 Apr 2001)

Wikipedia has a pretty good article on it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foo
