I would say about twice a year we get someone else mail.
We always take it back to the post office and give it to them.

About once every other month.

We get a neighbor’s mail at least once or twice a month. I usually just go drop it off, but sometimes I’m quick enough to flag down the carrier and let him or her redeliver it.

Our mail is also misdelivered occasionally. At least, someone brings it to us now and then. The rest of the missing mail is probably stolen; it’s a real problem in our area.

Prospective thieves aren’t just after packages. They want envelopes shaped like greeting cards (which might have cash or checks in them), documents that might have a social security number on them, and outgoing mail that’s meant for pickup and that might contain checks for bills.

Maybe twice a year. Really not often at all.

I live on an avenue, and there’s a street by the same name in my city. I get their mail a few times a year. No way to know how often they get my mail. Recently, I ordered some eyeglasses online and the tracking info says they were delivered, but when I got home there was no package on my porch. Wondering if they were stolen off my porch or if my friends at XXXX street got them instead. I’m fighting with USPS now trying to figure it out.

Twice a year, got one of them today.

Once or twice a month. The bank of mailboxes at my apartment complex has boxes for Apt 1 through 4 for each of two buildings. I get mail for the other building’s Apt 2 all the time, and vice versa.

Couple three times a month. Mostly it happens in my neighborhood, but, like @Mariah, there is a very similar street name in my town, so switch-ups with that happen at least twice a year (that I know of).

I never get stuff that is at the wrong address. But I do get stuff from people that lived here before me. That isn’t the mail-persons problem.

I have no clue how often normal mail goes someplace else. But packages that go missing I assume were stolen.

I’m moving in a few days and I have been packing. I found about 10 pounds of Halloween candy from a few years ago earlier today. I don’t eat candy, and even if I did I wouldn’t eat stuff that was so old. So I put it out on my porch and it was gone 15 minutes later. If amazon leaves a box it doesn’t stand a chance.

After 30 years at the same address it has only happened maybe 6 times.

Well I’m not sure if it’s good news or bad news to know the service in my area is exceptionally bad. I’ve complained to the post office before about this and I guess it is a little better than it was last year, but still seems like it happens far too often here. Glad it isn’t a problem for most of you.

@Demosthenes :: I have mail that is for me but the sender messed up the address get delivered to me. The mail-person puts two and two together and realizes something for john powell that is going to 1250 should probably go to me at 1550.

It used to happen almost daily or whenever my regular carrier had the day off or was shifted to another route. I complained to my regular carrier enough that I think he had a heart-to-heart with his fill-ins & at some point it just STOPPED happening!!! I think it has now been over 5 years since the last time it happened.

The mail people are pretty good in our area, but FedEx sucks. Apparently they use the area where I live as a training route, and the poor trainees must get so frustrated that they eventually just drop the package off wherever. In the system it says it’s been delivered to the correct address, but that’s not true. I finally got around it by having them deliver to a friend’s address that is not on our route.

The worst was when my father died. I had put in a change of address so the mail would be forwarded to my home, but the mailman threw Dad’s mail away instead. I tried talking to the assisted living center, but they would not hold his mail. I tried talking to the supervisor at the post office where his mail came from, but they were absolutely impossible and unhelpful. It took quite a while to straighten that out, and in the meantime his creditors wanted his money. It was awful.

Between neighbor’s mail and former resident’s mail, we get something about 3 times a month.

^^ as far as mail belonging to former residents who lived at this address, the number of pieces of mail is probably close to 20. If it’s really important such as a bank statement or some kind of bill then I will return it to the sender.

Shortly after we moved in, a sheriff showed up with a warrant for the arrest of the previous resident. He could’ve saved his trouble because the utilities had been off in the house for 10 months! Somebody didn’t do their homework.

The guy who formerly owned my house (I moved in 10 years ago) only moved a couple blocks away, so I used to drop mis-delivered stuff off to him.

But I haven’t gotten anything for him in probably five years.

I’ve lived in my house for 20 years & when the last family moved out, I printed out a set of labels so I could easily forward their mail. About once a year around Christmas, I receive a card meant for them. I used to forward it; but around year 15, I decided that IF they didn’t care enough to let their friends know their new address, that they really weren’t interested in certain friends & I just stopped forwarding them!!!
