Do any fast food restaurants still serve Coke and Pepsi at the same store?

It seems that most only have one. Do you remember when that started? It might be 30 or more years ago where you can get both in the same store.

Never seen it. I believe that the soft drink maker gets a deal with the whole chain (at the corporate level) and that all the stores have to follow whatever corporate says.

The only place i have seen both Pepsi and Coke products is in some of those huge gas stations that have drinks and food – they’ll have those HUGE soda fountains and you can get both Pepsi and Coke. Like the QT chain in the southern US or the Sheets chain in the mid-Atlantic.

I’ve only ever seen one or the other.

I only remember seeing only one or the other. I once asked for a coke and was asked if a Pepsi would do. To me coke is a generic term.

@LostInParadise Always ask for an RC Cola. Make them apologize for not having it and only having one of the other two.
BTW I prefer RC over either of the other two, they are sweeter tasting to me.

Usually, the store or chain has a contract with a bottler to supply one or the other, along with other products in that bottler’s line. It would take up more room in the store if all products of all/both bottlers were to be on hand for sale.

I’ve seen the mixed fountain soda somewhere, but I’m not sure if it was fast food, I doubt it was. I know I’ve seen it, because it’s shocking.

Story time: my mother was/is a Cocaholic. Loyal to a fault to Coke. We always went to McDonald’s for fast food as a kid, because Burger King had a Pepsi contract back then. I remember the first time I went to BK I was in my late teens, and I had no idea what to order, and the burger had a bunch of stuff I didn’t want on it.

I remember when you couldn’t even get both at the convenience store. I think that changed in the 90’s, but I still come across it from time to time, and I make a note to avoid them because I hate Pepsi.
I have yet to find them both at a restaurant, though.
