Yes!

Um, it’s interesting for a few seconds. Then it gets stupid, boring, ridiculous and often disgusting. Nah.

Sure, for comedy value – they are pretty ridiculous!

Absolutely!

No, I don’t hide it from my partner. He looks at porn as well.

We do not consider it unfailthful. We have a healthy sexual relationship with each other, and we each have healthy sexual relationships with ourselves. I think both are important.

Sure, I like porn.. some of it. There’s a huge variety of porn out there, and plenty of it is silly, or disgusting, or just not my cup of tea. But some of it’s hot. :)

I don’t hide it from my girlfriend. She also likes some of the soft-core stuff I like, and often reads my Playboy and Penthouse before I get a chance to.

Whether looking at porn is “being unfaithful” depends on who your partner is, and how they feel about it. I’ve had girlfriends who would consider it some kind of cheating, and others who wouldn’t. My current (wonderful) girlfriend doesn’t. In any case, it’s certainly less unfaithful than actually having sex with another person.

@wildflower: Your comment reminded me of the following, regarding sex:

“The pleasure is momentary, the position rediculous, and the expense, damnable!”

No, really!

Honestly, I find it quite quite boring.

@jackAdams: couldn’t have said it better myself!!

I think that pronography is a totally natural and healthy form of recreation.

People always mock personal sexuality, “OmG, I never masturbate!! Are you a LOser!??”

It just seems absurb to pretend a deep rooted sexuality exists within our complex minds that needs expression and indulgence through a harmless facet such as watching two adults act our our personal desires.

It’s really no different than the reason we like watching action flicks, romantic movies, etc.

Not watching, so much. Sex is pretty ridiculous, and I can’t seem to watch porn without just cracking up. I have a pretty awesome imagination, though, so still photos and erotic stories work well for me. That way I can picture whatever I like—no absurd facial expressions or anything that’ll send me into fits of laughter.

jasonjackson's avatar

@MacBean: yeah, I’ve found that often photo sets are better than videos in that they leave enough to my imagination that nothing that’s ridiculous or otherwise a turn-off needs to come up. But they still provide the visual stimulation that I enjoy – i.e. looking at nekkid chicks. :)

Interestingly, I’ve always was I was in the minority on that issue.. certainly the online porn industry moved to video as fast as possible, presumably in response to customer demand. But the number of responses here which mention silliness, stupidity, disgustingness, etc may indicate otherwise.

Who was it who said that there’s only a single step from the sublime to the ridiculous? They were certainly right, at least as far as porn goes. And I guess the line is a little different for everyone..

You mentioned stories. Sometimes I too enjoy an erotic story, but I find that they are actually closer to video in that they can take that step into ridiculousness more easily than photo sets. I think maybe stories leave the wrong part (the visuals) to my imagination; I’d prefer to see skin and fill in the contextual details with my fantasies, not the other way around.

Sorry if that’s getting a bit off-topic from the original question. To maybe bring it back around, I’ll ask this: is looking at photos/video more or less potentially “unfaithful” to one’s partner than reading stories or just daydreaming about a long-cherished personal fantasy?

JackAdams's avatar

Really, folks!

Sex is a very private and personal matter, and should only concern the three people that are actually doing it.

Three? Would that be: he, she and the pizza-delivery guy?

loser's avatar

Or, me, myself, and I?

augustlan's avatar

Or, the Two Girls and A Cup? ewwww

Emilyy's avatar

Yes, and when I have a partner I don’t keep it from him. And I probably wouldn’t want to date someone from whom I would have to keep such information. I like honesty, and openness, and above all watching porn with my partner.

Spargett's avatar

I think it should be mentioned that some of the earliest drawings on cave walls were of sexual acts. Along with bison and spears, which history books choose to focus on more.

MacBean's avatar

@Spargett—I guess trends toward sex and violence in entertainment are nothing new when you think about it.

loser's avatar

@macbean: hey, that was a good observation!

delirium's avatar

I, like macbean, prefer erotica. Porn, as I said before, I dislike because I just can’t take it seriously.

I don’t, however, mind if my boyfriend likes it and watches it.

Like? PAH . more like LOVEEEEE.

simone54's avatar

I dunno, do you like breathing?

MissAnthrope's avatar

Yeah, watching porn is in my sexual repertoire. Not something I want all the time, necessarily, but enjoyable when I’m in the mood.

I don’t think watching porn is embarrassing or anything to hide, so no, I don’t keep it from my partners. If they want to watch together, even better. :)

melly6708's avatar

its kind of dumb to me. they exaggerate too much.
