Why does my cartilage piercing still hurt?

I have had it since Nov. 10th and it is now Jan. 8th and my cartilage piercing is still sore to the touch. I am able to change piercings and the hole is not swollen or infected in any way. So why does it still hurt any time I touch it no matter how soft?

Mines been in since my late teens but I have to use gold or silver still.

@Akame009 The gun is very very hard on your flesh. It forces a blunt stud through the skin, causing it to literally rip in order to make room for the jewelry. A piercing needle is actually hollow and extremely sharp. It slices through the skin, safely pushing the tissue aside to make room for the jewelry to be inserted.

It’s kinda like being sliced with a jagged knife versus a very sharp one.

Also there are a lot less capillaries up where the cartilage is vs. the lobe. With less circulation it takes a lot longer to heal

I went through the same thing you did and regretted it. I ended up just taking it out and letting it grow over.
