They don’t wear dresses in the hospital I work in. Too much bending, pulling, reaching and other actions and Interactions with patients make struggling with a dress too uncomfortable. Plus all the nasty stuff that gets all over them in a single day. They want something they can strip off as they get home and stuff in the washer. If scrubs get ruined, they aren’t as costly as a dress to replace.

I can’t say that I ever remember a hospital nurse ever wearing a dress unless she is an administrator.

They’re still included as an option in the uniform of the hospital I work at (UK) but no one really wears them. More popular are the scrubs with hospitals name embroidered on them.

I don’t think so. My daughter has been a nurse for several years now and as a charge nurse even when she knows she has a meeting with the big wigs of the hospital and knows scrubs will not be appropriate she will opt for slacks and a top rather than a dress because she knows that the meeting will only be part of her day and she will still be expected to do continue her regular job.

I was a candy striper in the early 70’s. We wore red and white striped dresses.
Today I think nurses and docs wear street clothes under their scrubs or just their scrubs. They make some groovy scrubs now a days, too.

Scrubs are way more practical.

Just wandered through the hospital. Nobody wearing dresses.

I can’t even imagine trying to do that kind of work in a dress.
