Is it family?
Is it your job?
Is it the climate, and if you would rather live somewhere else where would it be?

That would be laziness and family. I would rather live in Brooklyn, NY. I have other family there. But, there is noooo way I could afford to live there.

Gravity mostly, otherwise I’d be off somewhere else.

Every one of those reasons factors into the choice to stay put. There is also the huge drag of inertia. The combination still counters the ever more preposterous expense of living here and gilded age economics.

Family, job, cost of living, general joy of living where I do. I could deal with a warmer climate though. If I was free to make the choice I’d winter in the south west and spring/summer/fall here in east Tennessee.

I go where ever my husband’s job takes us, and it’s been our present location for 27 years now and three previous moves before this. We are in a very pleasant location with no reason to seek a change.

My children are here. I think being poor here might be better than being poor in the us. Plus, I can eat what I want when I want. I have a pretty nice house. If I left I’d have live with my family in a very nice house and eat what is served, when it’s served. Plus the most beautiful beaches. I try very hard not to think of the future.

Five months ago we moved to our dream state.
We have access to a wonderful school system and great medical care.
We live in a city that is very liberal and progressive.
It’s a very green city with numerous parks. We are surrounded by lakes, water and trails.
The music and restaurant scene does not disappoint.

We’re staying here.

Cheap rent.

Also I wouldn’t be successful moving back to my home town without a credental or journeymans certificate or degree. Else I would end up falling into a rut again. I will save enough to take open studies at my local university. Until I find out where I belong. My favorite flavor of the week is industrial organizational psychology. At Adler university online.

Cost of living, good weather most of the time (we have hurricanes and tornadoes) and found some great friends.

Mostly the community, the people here would do anything to help each other.

Family, and it is close to great walking country and spectacular scenery.

Family. I’d rather live in Missouri or Arkansas.

Close to Nature and hiking trails.
Away from the hustle and bustle of city life that has been more and more chaotic.
Financially cheaper as well.
Don’t spend on entertainment other than hiking and photography.
It is safer here in a Small Town situated in a National Park.
People from all around the World are visiting rather than me spending to meet them and learn of there cultures.

You mean it’s a gateway town @Inspired_2write?

Inspired_2write's avatar

Yes I guess it serves as that.Tourists stay here in Town and sign up for tours or drive to the attractions that are further out of Town.
Out Town numbers 5000 and in Summer months 12000 a day travel to or through here to some attractions like Glaciers,Canyons,Mountains,Lakes, Rivers,Ski trams,Hiking trails although only two blocks from here are trails to follow that circle the Town and / or lead on to other trails that take the hiker further afield.
