Send to a Friend

Are banks like girlfriends?

I went into a bank yesterday to open up a new account. It should have been a simple, easy transaction. I give them the money and the account is opened up.

But no, to get the best interest rates, you have to have a “relationship account” with the bank. You have to commit to all sorts of other things in this relationship. Or else you get crappy rates and poorer service.

Why do banks want ‘relationships’? I want transactions – they want an all-encompassing commitment.

Does anyone besides me see the parallel between banking and having a girlfriend?
