Nature is pretty efficient at cleaning up carcasses. And, where lions are naturally found, there is an abundance of carrion eaters.

Why would you put a dead lion into a nature show? As an apex predator, they generally die of age and infirmity, and not around the pride.

Well, usually they prefer not to show them. Nature shows are generally pretty “feel good” kinds of shows.
I have seen dead cubs on nature shows. It’s depressing.

Saw one where a single lion survived while her entire family died, the watching elephant that had trampled them gave her an almost mocking look & she looked embarrassed…it hurt her pride see.

They try to get them in but they can’t meet the deadlions.

So they have to go without them in the production.

How many dead rabbits or dead squirrels have you seen? Animals seem to prefer dying out of sight.

But they don’t know when or where cameras are going to show up.

The bodies don’t last very long, anyway. After 3 days they’re pretty gross and who wants to see that on TV?

We had a possum get deaded by the garage. Every time I took the trash out I checked his progress. It was pretty rapid. It’s like he just melted into the earth. At the end of 2 months there was no trace of him except bones. One of his bones was exactly the right size I needed to secure the hasp lock on the garage door.
