Staying Alive has been a “CPR Guide” for decades, I was taught that by a CPR instructor twenty years ago.

The reason it is handy is because it was ubiquitous for so long that a lot of people know the tune and beat.

This is the first I ever heard of “Baby Shark” so even if the pace is correct, I wouldn’t recall it while performing CPR. But maybe you will.

The beat for both of them is not uncommon, but “Stayin’ Alive” for CPR is a nice mnemonic.

I wouldn’t recall Baby Shark, and I don’t hear the similar beats.

Any song with a speed of about 100–120bpm will do.

I’d rather stay dead than be resuscitated by someone with “Baby Shark” in their head.

The similarity is the speed. Every beat of the song you do a chest compression. Doesn’t matter about the rhythm just the speed.

Maybe so because the smallest kid I take care of likes both baby shark and disco for his relax music.

“Another One Bites the Dust” also has the correct beats per minute for CPR.

@tedibear true…but you don’t want to be heard singing that while you’re doing cpr. People will get upset.
