How do you get to the alphabets to search by last name/first/initials? Faculty of political science (or social science)

The search result is (87?) pages long. Is the only option to go one page at a time all the way to z?

I click on the blue hourglass icon on the top of the page.

That doesn’t let me browse the entire staff directory alphabetically by last name, but it does let me find specific people if I know their name.

It does let me browse everyone named “Joonas” or “Smith” though.

@Zaku Yup. I see it as a magnifying glass though; the normal Search icon. It’s all the way on the right on the top bar..

@janbb magnifying glass, yes… I was having a hard time thinking of the word – I was thinking of “eyeglass” but though “hourglass… hmm, is that the right word? yes, I think so…”. Heh.

But if you just want to go to the pages for the letter Z or whatever in one step, if you only have the initial of last name?

If it’s actually Z per se that you want, click on the link to page 87.

The hardest letters to see a list for would be the middle of the alphabet.

Well, I did find a “people finder” section that lets you limit the search in some ways (Field of Science, Unit, and Title), and also show only half the alphabet, here: https://www.helsinki.fi/en/university/people-finder
That would tend to help a lot if you were looking for someone you have some information about.

But really I think it’s just a problem with the “usability” of their web design. I would send them feedback at https://www.helsinki.fi/en/give-feedback

I see your point, it’s the letters in the middle are the worst to get to.
Good suggestion to send feedback.
