Why is the jack called a jack and not a prince?

We call him “boer” (farmer)....

Because he isn’t a Prince, which is royalty, but a Knave, which is a manservant or underling.

The Queen used to be a Knight, so the jack was the knight’s servant. and when the K was put in the corner of the King, they couldn’t put a K for Knave, so they used Jack, as another generic term for a servant.

Because the jack is not a prince. He is a servant or soldier.
