What should I do?

“Great Question” (1points)

I work at a Chinese restaurant, it pays pretty well, but the environment is kind of stressful. Customer would complain about the food and even though I try to help them, I’m not really supposed to. It gets me even more in trouble. For instance, if your food is raw and you tell me I would have to let the cook know, but the cook wouldn’t do anything about it and say it’s fine. My co worker would just look at you like she dont speak English if theres a complaint and I have to deal with it. As much as I try to help the customer, I cant really do much. I’m also dealing with stalkers and sexual harrassment as well. My boss is also being passive aggressive because of the way I help the customer

Can you look for another job? This one doesn’t sound like it is a good place for you to work and it doesn’t sound like you can make any improvements there.

I would start looking for a new job immediately. This situation sounds unbearable.

Redking's avatar

I have been looking, but most of the job is 12 and 13 an hour and this one pays 15

Quit.

Sounds like you either do your best with it, or quit. Not sure I see a reasonable third option. Assuming we agree that shooting up the place is not an option.

BTW
You seem to have a way of finding jobs that are trouble.
You sure it’s not you?

Yeah i guess youre right, the best i can do is make the best of it until I find a better job, i went to college for 8 years and went to work in a nursing home for a dietitian, but left because my co workers were trying to recruit me to become a prostitute. I always end up in bad situation

@ Redking either WTF? or Really?

You sound like a very, very young adult without a clue. You don’t sound like a mature person with 8 years of college. Why aren’t you currently working as a registered dietician? Did you get your degree? How old are you? Why are you working at a crappy restaurant?

Redking's avatar

Yes, i got my bachelor degree in health science. Im actually 25, but people think im 16 because of my looks. I wouldnt considered myself mature, im still learning and growing. Working as a dietician was a bad expereince for me working as a dietitian so i decided to quit. The reason why I work in a crappy restaurant is because that was the only job that hired me and i needed to pay my student loans which is 30,000.

I had people recruit me as prostitute before since i was 16 so this is nothing new, two years ago i almost got kidnapped and they was going to get me into sex trafficking. I just didnt expect to be in that environemt especially since i was working in a nursing home.

Regarding customer complaints, have the cook talk to the customer or the customer will call the owner to complain. If the cook is the owner then tell him/her that the customer is going to social media to complain so either talk with the customer now or get worse reviews in the media.
Its not your job to handle the food complaints, only to get the manager.

@Redking are you in the United States? Prostitution is not legal here, except in a few counties in the state of Nevada.

Prostitution is not a good/useful/helpful/practical way to make money. It is more likely to get you into legal trouble, and limit your job prospects.

What was your problem working as a dietician? This is what you got your degree in. It seems like you should pursue a job in this field. Why would you not do that?

Redking's avatar

Yes im in the united states, but where i live is in the ghetto and its very expensive to live here so many of my co workers that work as a dietitian with me before were prostitutes to make a living. I didnt know about it until they try to recruit me. It was a toxic environment and i was the only one doing most of the work with cleaning and preparing food for the patients. I would want to work as a dietitian again but i dont want to be in another toxic environment.

Something sounds fishy with equating working as a dietician and most of them working on the side as prostitutes. Something doesn’t add up here.

You should seriously think about moving somewhere that is more affordable, and get a job as a real dietician, if that is what your actual degree is in.

In general, most people who are working as registered dietitians, are working in a reputable field, and have no involvement or relationship to prostitution, or any other organized crime. What you are describing sounds very fishy.

You could also work in a restaurant, if you prefer that type of work, in another town (that is not a “ghetto”) for better pay, or that has a lower cost of living.

Also, why would it be expensive to live in “the ghetto”. I’ve always understood the term “ghetto” to mean run down neighborhoods where poor people live, because it is the only place that is affordable.

A lot of things aren’t adding up. 8 years of schooling = a doctorate, but her “friends” were pushing her into prostitution.
And she’s working at a Chinese restaurant.

Kardamom's avatar

And hacking into computers and not realizing that that is illegal. How could one be that educated, and not understand that?

Both of these questions sound fishy to me.

Here is a website that gives shelters and also helps one to transition into a safe place in the U.S.
I urge you to call and find out what they can offer you, now.

She / he is not in that kind of trouble. They are just working at a Chinese restaurant and not happy with it.
