Yes, I know several people, all senior citizens, at least 60, but mostly in their 70s, who have had one or both hips replaced, and all of them are doing much better than before they had the surgery.
Apparently, they get you up and walking (not strenuously) on the same day as the surgery. Also, they have perfected the surgical techniques, so that the incisions are small, by comparison from decades past.
