If on a lark you decided to go live somewhere for a few months to a year, where would you go?

You can spend up to $5,000 US a month, but it would be better if it is less. That’s for everything, rent, transportation, food, and sightseeing. As small as a one bedroom apartment/flat is fine, or it can be a house, but not living with others. Also, let’s make it a place that is relatively safe.

Doesn’t have to be English speaking, but it would be nice if it’s fairly common that the local population knows at least a little English.

Either to Amelia Island Florida’s or to the Pacific Northwest.

I would take a condo on the beach within two hours drive of my home. That way, I could still have my grandsons during the week for homeschooling.

Japan. Always wanted to experience the nightlife there in Tokyo. Eat great Japanese food, get drunk in bars both classy and sleazy and sing some karaoke. Then explore Kyoto for immersion in some really ancient traditional culture. Lastly, to seek out Hayao Miyazaki and hope he grants me a nice friendly chat.

I’m thinking some small quaint town in Scotland.

New Zealand. Somewhere with excellent kayaking, and fishing. Not a heavily populated place.

A home base, for camping, and kayaking/canoeing.

Somewhere in the South Pacific, would be great too. Again, with lots of opportunities for paddling, and fishing. Maybe some good snorkeling.

I’d go to Cape Cod. It’s about three hours from my house, the currency is the same, no documents (like passport needed or going through Customs), I can drive there which makes the convenience factor very high, it’s peaceful, and I can get home for any reason relatively quickly (to visit friends or deal with local stuff if necessary).

Currently I want to go visit a Jelly friend and help her around. She is currently going through a hard time and is doing her best to survive. I can help with the basic household chose and spend some quality time with her.

Oh, now I remember there is another jelly friend in the same situation. Now I can’t decide :)

Hopefully it wouldn’t have to be the same place every time. I would start with Paris, then Florence, Vienna or Strausbourg, who knows? The plan would be to make those cities headquarters for individual acclimation to the regions involved. Too bad it isn’t a plan I could afford in my 20s. No that’s not quite right. It’s too bad I didn’t make it happen in my 20s. As it was I just got too lucky in landing HERE in my 20s. I didn’t want to see ANYTHING but the parade of fabulous determined pwomen.
