If you have two groups of people who disagree on an issue, instead of each side trying to convert the other (most likely fruitless), why not make an effort to identify the causes of disagreement? This breaks the disagreement into its atomic elements. The result is the clarification of the areas of disagreement, and perhaps even a greater understanding of why the other sides believes the way it does.
