If you were sentenced to die and were given a last meal of your request, what would it be? Humor is acceptable.

I think I would probably lose my appetite.

The executioner’s heart. Medium rare.

If I got a few hours more to live after my meal, it would be Chili Con Carne.

anniereborn's avatar

I believe I would like a liquid lunch involving lots of booze.

Dutchess_lll's avatar

I’ll drink to that @anniereborn!

A simple pie and beans would be perfect, served not today but tomorrow. Always tomorrow.

Super spicy, broiled crawfish. Like 100, of them. Alligator tail, and lots of hot sauce.
One bottle of Knob Creek, to wash it down.

A bushel of hickory nuts, shells cracked I can dig the meats out myself with this here shiv.
A BBQ beef pan pizza. I can slice it myself with this here shiv.
A pound of breaded popcorn shrimp
A pound of crispy fried bacon and ⅓ cup of melted chocolate to dip it in
One KFC breast original recipe
Half a dozen fried frog legs
Baked mahi mahi

I know that is a lot of protein, but if I’m going to die I want to take with me as many of earth’s delicious creatures as I can. I want the warden to bring my meal. If anyone owes him money, don’t worry. I will take care of that with this here shiv.

“This here shiv.” Loll!

Considering I tend to lose my appetite whenever I get even slightly anxious I’m sure eating would be the last thing on my mind. I always thought the last meal was such a weird concept because of this, I can’t imagine anyone thinking about food in a situation like that. Maybe I’d have the most expensive dish I could come up with just to fuck with the people killing me.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Right? Me either @nerdgirl578. It’s a weird, perverted concept.

nerdgirl578's avatar

Yeah, it’s like a sarcastic joke almost. “Hey, food is probably the last thing on your mind right now, but you can have anything you want, free of charge!”

MrGrimm888's avatar

A lot of these people spend years, eating prison food. Regardless of the situation, I can see the appeal of getting decent food, before you are killed.

It does seem like an almost sadistic idea though. And a waste of money.

If I thought everyone on death row, was definitely guilty, I’d say they don’t deserve a last meal.

Lots of people feed their animals exotic meals, before they euthanize them. I guess, it’s usually a gesture of mercy.

Dutchess_III's avatar

It’s interesting how the men seem to understand this, but the women are going “barf.” Why is that?

MrGrimm888's avatar

I don’t know of many women getting the death penalty. It’s mostly men, and most are guilty of serious crimes….

Dutchess_III's avatar

That has nothing to do with it. None of us here have ever faced the death penalty. We’re all just imagining. And from the responses, women find it a rather bizarre tradition, where as men seem to understand if completely.

Patty_Melt's avatar

I’ve come close.
I was in the hospital, and the gynecogical oncologist told me I had ovarian cancer. All that remained was to biopsy various spots to determine if it had spread too much to fix.
I actually became more ravenous, almost like I was trying to fit every meal I would miss into my one week stay.

By the way, I’m a woman and in favor of a death sentence for certain crimes.

Dutchess_III's avatar

That’s not quite the same thing. You still had hope of living. There was still a reason for you to eat.

MrGrimm888's avatar

Well. Men are generally larger than women. Maybe our increased need for more food, is a factor?

Dutchess_lll's avatar

Most of you are not twice as large as women.

MrGrimm888's avatar

I didn’t say twice as large. But we’re generally bigger. It was just an attempt to make sense of your observation.

@Dutchess_III You are in no way qualified to determine what y thoughts or feelings are.
The mood was extremely grim. My white cell count was impossibly high. As I said, the radioactive dye showed my entire torso and thyroid to be impacted.
The doctor wanted to tell me it could be treated, but the grave expression on his face showed me he was only going through the motions, with no expectation of a prognosis.
I was dead meat for as couple of weeks. I was making ready. It is the reason I didn’t fight my daughter over her decision to defy me and move in with her boyfriend.

People don’t all face death the same. I was actually relieved. At last the years of pain and embarrassment would end.
That the biopsies came back clean so surprised him, he consulted with a clan of other oncologists to be certain of the results.

I’m just pointing out that everyone has their own way of facing death.
No inmate is forced to have a last meal special deal. It is just a one final compassion they are offered if they want it, and most do.

My regular doctor has finally come to understand the permanent condition I live with, and has me on meds which manage my symptoms well enough I want to live by e a while longer.

Here’s the weight I carry and always will.
Espiritus Corvus knew I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and that I didn’t expect to have long. He passed before I could tell him the follow up.

Dutchess_lll's avatar

Ok. You still alive?
