“Great Question” (1points)

Did they have to patch or replace it often?
What was in it that enabled it to withstand the elements?

The structure is built of sticks called wattle and the daub is dried mud, clay or dung. I imagine the framing holds it up and the daub dries to a fairly hard, semi-impermeable shell.

@janbb – I am amazed that it doesn’t degrade quickly. When I recycle my own clay, it doesn’t take all that long to break down .
From what I understand it is still used today.
