Viruses and bacteria cause infections. Almost every thing else is a disease.

Infection occurs when any micro-organism such as bacteria, viruses enters your body. Disease is a condition, which produces specific symptoms and is diagnosed by a medical expert. An illness is mostly based on self-reported symptoms.
Even the experts may not know.
Some call GERD a disorder, some call it a disease. It’s a disorder.
