What items, foods, services, freedoms and rights, do you have better than a king or peasant, or your social class 200 years ago?

Good question! I often think about the fact that the normal American citizen has more luxuries than any Mideval King ever did. Even Section 8 recipients have it better than kings had it 500 years ago.

Modern dentistry. I can live without the Internet or TV. But god damn, I need to be properly numbed before the dentist digs in.

I can get better drugs.
I don’t have to fall back in it trying to use a chamber pot.
I don’t have to wait for the right season to have an apple pie.
I don’t have to consult a team of priests over my personal decisions.

Hour and a half after putting laundry in wash, ding! Clean and dry.
My soap has no lye.
I was not stoned to death or put in stocks during my young and desirable years. Whew!!!
