I’m kind of a purist. Kosher hot dog for the taste, lots of mustard and sauerkraut is the I roll.

We have a hot dog shop, about four miles away, that has been in business for 98 years, I like their “Super Dog” quarter pound all beef dog with chili, onions, mustard and coleslaw (a North Carolina thing). I order a “tray of pickles”, a paper plate with thin sliced dill pickles too.

I love a chili dog aka coney, but I’ve seen a few in NY and Chicago that are loaded and look great. Reuben dogs, veggies and pickle. Sounds good.

@lucille Mine, too! They looked really good on tv. Hopefully the quality of dogs suits the toppings, I hate the cheap hotdogs. Gotta be Nathans or something better.

Chili cheese dogs are great.

But for a straight hotdog, ketchup and mustard only. A hotdog is the only food that I like mustard on.

@KNOWITALL – I am not familiar with Nathan’s but yeah, the cheapos are not so good.

Regular length of a hot dog bun but plumped up ! I think they have custom made for them.

My wife and I went out on Friday to Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls® for lobster rolls (top cut buns) with just melted butter!

Glad I read the question a second time. Was about to give an answer on how I would dress up as a hotdog. Started thinking about what materials would I need to construct the costume. Lol

To answer the OP….I don’t usually dress up a hotdog. Hotdog and bun’s fine as long as there’s soda. Love the taste of a great dog sans condiments.

I won’t touch a hot dog, but make it homemade kielbasa from the butcher and it gets dressed in mustard only. Sounds really good right now.

@lucillelucillelucille I grew up not far from a meat packing plant and had friends whose dads worked there. Those households got free bologna and hotdogs and would not eat them. :) When we had pink wieners for Wednesday night Church supper, we knew someone had donated them from the meat packing plant. But you know what, we all survived, both those of us who ate that stuff and those that didn’t. So…........

@Sagacious- My dad didn’t give us the details so we still ate them.
My sister was an accountant at a slaughter house and during her interview, they took her on a tour of the plant. The stuff of nightmares IMO.
Seeing how it’s done did not stop her from eating a ham sandwich.A fact which amazes me to this day.lol

For some reason, my grandparents (may they rest in peace) would go to the local deli and pick up beef tongue. Apparently they thought it was a delicacy and a treat.

Yuck. I had it once and said never again.

Chipped beef is super nasty.
