From the pics you posted on another thread, he doesn’t look like a Dane nor a Ridgeback. I had a boxer/Lab for 15 years & they look nothing alike. I can tell you that when my Boxer/Lab didn’t like someone that the hair raised up along the spine. I could tell which of the people walking past my house had been teasing him when I wasn’t around by how high the hair stood up as he barked. Any other time, he was docile & loving to practically everyone…even the mailman once he got to know him!!!
I trained him to bark…NOT bite & he did his job well. He barked at anyone outside the fence; but IF I let them inside the fence, you would have thought that they were his best friend!!! Somewhere around the 10 year mark, he’d bark at any repairmen when they first drove up, ignore them when I let them inside the fence, then bark at them again when they went back outside the fence to get any needed parts, & then ignore them when they came back in. Most people won’t come inside a fence where there’s a barking dog & that’s all that I wanted!!! You said you loved him, so love him for the mixed up breeds that he is & accept that the pound put a label on him just to get someone to adopt him.
