I have 2 wood burning stoves. The one in the basement is an air tight, Glacier Bay, single door single baffle. It will take a 12 diameter 3 ft long log. It is from the 80s when stoves were not so efficient. 40% or so.
The one upstairs is a high tech unit with a reburner by Lopi, the Freedom fireplace insert model. It runs really hot and burns the exhaust gasses a second time. It is clean and efficient, 72%. It has a glass window so you can see the flames. Very nice.
I use that one to dispose of paper products and cardboard along with wood from my property. I can easily heat my entire house with it when the power goes out.
I use the stove in the basement for large chunks of wood and stuff that won’t fit into the Lopi.
