I have a portable browser in my flash drive that I was logged into many websites with. I stopped using this browser for around 3 months. Now, I started it up again and to my surprise I was logged out of all the websites that I was looged in.. The only thing I did was update the browser, but I know this doesnt have any effect on cookies.. :s What happened ??

Yes. But the expiration date is set by the issuing web site – the one who created the cookie in the first place – and they can have expiration dates decades in the future.

So it doesn’t surprise me that you still have cookies from months ago.

One thing you should do from time to time is have the browser clear your cookies, for the sake of security.

Another thing you should do is download some of the cookie viewer software that lets you examine cookies and delete them. You will be astounded and disgusted at how much they store about you.

I Have to add, that I can actually see all the cookies / site data (in the settings page in chrome).
This is peculiar to me

Most sites will log you off after a while, either through cookies or at the web server.

It’s good security, so if you lose that thumb drive some rando can’t impersonate you around the internet.
