Cabernet Sauvignon, goes well with fat in ribs and garlic. Spend no more than $20, you may want go to a wine store and have them guide you.

Other reds stand up well. There are moderately priced reds everywhere from merlot, the Southern Rhone wines, barberas and barbarescos from Italy and the Merlots, even Bordeaux of France. All that rich fat will defeat those pesky tannins for which cheaper young wines are notorious.

Red with red meat and white with fish.

or poultry, though pinots go well with duck, pheasant & goose.

Oh yes. I missed that. Thanks StanMan.

@Tropical_Willie -I might have to do that as my hub dislikes Cabernet Sauvignon as it’s a bit too dry for him.

Go with a Petite Sirah not as much tannin and fruity berry taste. Not sweet just less tannin.

Do they grow grapes and make any tolerable wine in America?

If he’s sweet but not as sweet as red cordial try this guide.

Throw out the rule book and order Sangria.

Merlot

@elbanditoroso -That is what I was thinking. I also looked into different beers to serve.
Brown ales are what I am finding.

@lucillelucillelucille Really any red wine that you like would be fine with it. A Pinot Noir would be nice too. .Ale is also possible but I find beer too filling to drink with a big meal personally.

@janbb – My sister says the same thing.

They grow the grapes in the Napa Valley in Ca. @Pinguidchance.
