2019 Aston Martin Vantage came up.
It resembles a dog bone with wheels that are too large. Wtf happened to proportion?
When I was in art school, the automotive design students had to submit over 1000 drawings/ideas for car design.
I cannot believe that this is all they can do.
Then again, there’s probably a bunch of fabulous designs that don’t make it due to the questionable tastes of car company bigwigs.
Can’t remember the name of the now-fired guy who f’d up Cadillac but he too did a number on the designs of those cars.

Some people think that they look cool.

Along with light alloy wheels, the LP tires are not as heavy allowing the vehicle to get better MPG and better performance since the car doesn’t have to spin up all that extra weight. And they will grip the road just fine if you get the air pressure correct.

My main problem with them though is aesthetic. They just look out of proportion to the body of the car.Like putting weak/spindly bicycle tires on a bus.My brother in law has two older trucks (1940 something and 1950 something) Both are beautiful except one has low profile tiles and it drives me nuts. pun intended
The weak look of the wheels looks like it can’t support the bulk of the truck.

@lucillelucillelucille The rims are made of the same metal in some cases. I would prefer a larger tire because of the ride factor. (Plus, I like my speedometer and odometer to read correctly.) And, yes, they do look out of proportion. But people are always doing stuff to cars that don’t conform to aesthetics, or even automotive safety factors.
So laugh at the clowns!

They look too “weak” to support even an average sized vehicle of today.
When I see them on cars from the 60’s or 70’s, it just looks bad.I will try to find a photo of my BIL’s truck with them.

I think they look ridiculous on trucks especially 4×4s but they do work on super cars and other high performance cars.

Just google what ya want like photo of a Toyota prius with low pro file tires you would be amazed at what comes up.

If a person doesn’t care about speedometer or odometer readings and gets low profile tires to lower the car to the ground, it will lower the center of gravity and increase the cornering ability of the vehicle.

@kritiper Any dealership can recalibrate the speedo, I had it done when I went to a larger tire on my last 4×4.
It’s not that expensive either.

@SQUEEKY2 I know that. Back in the 60’s, if you wanted to recalibrate the speedometer and odometer, you could have a small gear box installed at the transmission in the speedometer cable. (This little box would cost about $100.) Nowadays, you just reset the computer parameters.
