@SergeantQueen Hmmm, who may that have been?
@rebbel Mark King, that’s the bloke from Level 42 I think so anyway, name is definitely familiar.
@Caravanfan Cool, enjoy the show & these shores.

Some alive, some dead.

When I was a young teen, rock did the splits. It became; soft, southern, classic, metal, acid, and rock opera and rock ballads were coming on the scene.
Here is what my mix tape would have been during my early teens.

@Patty_Melt -#3’s a great album.
I’ll never get tired of #6

@rebbel I thought so, used to carry that bass of his so high, I heard he insured that thumb for millions.

Patty_Melt's avatar

I wasn’t done. I added more.
That first one isn’t rock at all, but all the rock stations were playing it. I loved that.

I still listen to the music from my youth. Some of the artists are still around, some not. Some of the music is actually before my teens but I love 60s and 70s music.

@Patty_Melt- #7 reminds me of this by Sammy H Johns.

Patty_Melt's avatar

That is a true way back. I haven’t heard it in a very long time.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@Patty_Melt Aren’t ya gonna ask what the H stands for??

Patty_Melt's avatar

Sorry. What does the H stand for? for about two minutes?

Dead. Mostly Michael Jackson or the Jackson Five posters. World map. At least until I got l closer to 17–18 then Curt died, too.

Still alive, still dropping sonic turds every few years, still making millions, but they’ve been creatively dead for two decades.

The early Beach boys were one of my favorites. Their story reads like a day time soap opera.
The Kingston Trio was another. All the original members are dead.
Jim Croce, who was born two weeks before me, died in a plane crash. His son remains a popular singer.
Rick Nelson died in a plane crash. His twin sons remain.popular singers.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@YARNLADY Are they still in music? I haven’t thought of them for awhile!

YARNLADY's avatar

@KNOWITALL Yes, still on tour.

Same shit I still listen to now.

NoFX, Propagandhi, Screeching Weasel, Fifteen, and Bad Religion. Four of the five are still playing shows. Screeching Weasel might still be playing but I am not sure after the SXSW indecent years ago.

raum's avatar

Operation Ivy, NOFX, Bad Religion, Agent Orange…all still touring, I think.

gwynnannette's avatar

One of my favorite artists, (Chester Bennington) from Linkin Park, is unfortunately dead. However my other favorite artists I listened to as a teen are still going on strong.

Chino – Deftones
Maynard – TOOL
Chibi – The Birthday Massacre

In fact, TBM is coming out with a new album.
