If you worked/were a student in healthcare at a hospital, would you consult your own psychiatric department for diagnosis and treatment/psychotherapy if you needed?

or would you prefer going to a private clinic to consult someone that has no direct relation to your workplace?

I work for a state agency that oversees mental health care. We are also a direct provider of mental health care for people without insurance or very poor insurance coverage.

I can see there could clearly be a conflict of interest for an employee to ask for care from colleagues. It’s not impossible for that to be overcome, but it would require a level of cooperation that would be difficult to maintain across all levels of the organization.

A lot depends on your insurance. I know that employees who work for Kaiser have to use the in-house insurance utilizing Kaiser resources.

He means it could be questioned by upper level management.

I’d keep anything personal out of the workplace.
That would also include dating anyone that I worked with.
