How could an individual with a Master’s Teaching Credential help tutor or homeschool kids whose schools are being closed due to the corona virus?

A friend of mine who lives in the LA area has a Master’s Degree in Education (a teaching credential) and has worked as a teacher in the past, but has mostly been pursuing an acting career for the last couple of years.

As of today, I suggested to him that he might want to consider temporarily tutoring, or homeschooling children whose schools are likely to be shut down in the following days, and weeks, due to the Corona Virus.

I got a call tonight from one of my other friends, who has grade school kids, and she was sent a notice tonight, saying that her kids school is shutting down on Monday (March 15, 2020) She and I are going to set up a makeshift classroom in her living room for her kids, and possibly a few neighbor kids. Just a non-credentialed, but smart mom, making sure her kids don’t fall behind. That’s what gave me the idea of suggesting to my other friend, with the teaching credential, that he might be able to help some other parents, whose kids schools will be shut down, temporarily.

This is all happening so fast, but I want to help him figure out the best way to go about this. I thought maybe some of you folks would have some ideas of what information I should be looking up. I do not have a teaching background, so I’m kind of flailing around.

Thank you all in advance.
