@Stratman, you are comparing apples to oranges. Because we know that eating spoiled food will cause an upset stomach, we are taught to test food for spoilage (by smell, look, etc.) before we eat it. Because driving is dangerous, we teach defensive driving courses and cars have seat belts, etc.
We need to apply that logic to sex education. We can’t just decide that in a perfect world there would be no unwanted pregnancies, go with that theory and tell teens to pretend they aren’t feeling what they are, so they simply need to keep their pants zipped. That is just not reality, anymore than expecting every teen driver to stay within the speed limit and not mess with the radio. We must give kids all the information and all the tools they need to deal with their sexuality, we can’t just put our heads in the sand and hope that by believing hard enough in what we want it will become reality.
