When calling a toll free phone number have you had this happen?

“Great Question” (4points)

More than once the recorded response asks if “you or someone in your household are over 50? If yes press 1. If not press 2.” The first time I got this message I pressed 1 and they hung up! The second time, different number, I pressed 2 and started getting all these ads I “might” be interested in. Anybody know what’s up?

You replied to a spammer. An know you are considered “live” and also you “opted in” by responding. So they can spam you with impunity.

Don’t accept a call unless you know the person calling, and start blocking any spam calls.

These were calls I placed to toll free numbers, The first was to UPS. I have a land line with Century Link. They have an application that when I dial it I get no solicitors. Must activate everyday. Works from 8 am to 9 pm. Costs about $5./month.

I’ve had that happen to me. I hung up and figured out a workaround.

This may or may not be related, but once I made a local call to a friend and ended up talking to a fireman two counties over (long distance).
