If Trump becomes positive for COVID19 and barely has any symptoms, will that significantly help his re-election possibilities?

It seems some people think if Trump gets sick then that will be a sure bet people will turn on him. Doesn’t seem like a sure bet to me. He could get a mild case of the disease.

With a bit of luck, the virus will slay both him and pence, then pelosi will become president.

Why would it? No connection between the two.

More likely people would say “I had a real bad case and that shit-assed president had a mild case – I resent that the rich don’t get as sick” – and vote against him.

Mild or severe shouldn’t matter. It’s whether he’s done what needs to be done or not. Some will think he has and will continue to support him. Some will think he hasn’t and will continue to oppose him. I don’t see anyone changing their opinion of him based on this virus.

I doubt it would make any difference.

The only way him getting Covid would affect his re-election chances would be if he died from it.

And even then it would only mean that people would have to choose between a guy who was brain dead from the virus, and a guy who is simply brain dead.

With Biden as the only alternative, even a dead Trump would be the better option.

Should be fun run up to the election.
@ucme
Speaking of getting Covid, hows the PM?

ucme's avatar

@josie He’s well recovered by all accounts which is good to see.
I had to laugh when people were saying he looked awful back when it was first reported.
Boris never looks great at the best of times, thoroughly good bloke though.

@josie I’m not sure he’d have to die. He could be on a respirator, etc., and not be considered healthy enough to be re-elected.

@ucme a dead Trump would probably work more.
