Is idealizing someone a realistic thing? or an exaggeration of the physique/qualities of the person they are getting to know.

I find this topic very complex and somehow interesting, of how powerful the mind can be.

Example: My girlfriend dated a guy that she went head over heals for him, she said it was the most handsome, sexy, greatest man ever, and the rest of us never saw that, he was just an ok guy.
