Can someone explain why it is the stone fruits grown in the yards here are this year exceptionally sweet?

I just bit into a plum from the bag load from the wife’s girlfriend. It’s so sweet, I would swear it’s been doctored. The apricots, peaches and cherries were extra sweet this year as well. What’s the deal?

Northern California, right? Enough rain but not too much, a gentle spring that allowed the fruit to ripen gradually and then enough warmth to spur growth.

That certainly describes this year’s weather.
