Does this report do a good job of showing the division in our country?

“Great Question” (2points)

Karlyn Borysenko is pretty much a life-long Democrat that gained recent fame (or notoriety) by attending a Trump rally. Most of her friends and acquaintances had two warnings for her…Dems warned the Trump supporters would give her a hard time, the Repubs warned Antifa would show up to cause problems. She took a deep breath and decided to go…and had a great time. What she learned from her experience is that all the negative media bias about Trump and his supporters was all wrong. She was welcome by the other attendees. No one gave her a hard time. She liked what she heard and she liked the energy brought to the rally.
In the end she started really looking at what was being said and done by both sides and she decided, after 20 years, to leave the Democrat party and register as an Independent.

I mean, I agree with the message that seeing the other side as human beings is a good start. I don’t agree that it’s only Democrats who fail to do this, though. And I don’t agree that Trump rallies are not divisive just because she didn’t get beaten up. Guilfoyle yelling “they will destroy your way of life!” is pretty solid proof that Republicans are very much fostering division, just as Democrats do. As much as Democrats think Trump supporters are racist hicks, Republicans think Biden supporters are communist thugs.

The DNC featured several former Republicans, notably including John Kasich. Both parties enjoy showing off prominent former members of the opposing party who switched sides. There is also the Lincoln Project group of Republicans who have endorsed Biden. I don’t know of any analogous group of Democrats.

Well. There is definitely division.
It seems that most people, are locked into one category.

IMO. It’s a dangerous situation.
Whether Biden, or Trump wins 2020, there is likely to be civil unrest….
Another lesser, of two evils, vote.

She went, and didn’t see any kids in cages. She also didn’t see any proof that Steven Miller eats babies, but she admitted she didn’t go to the buffet.

@Demosthenes I would agree it isn’t just Democrats. But what I found interesting in the whole thing was how much of the hype against the other party played into the entire thing. Both sides in this warned her not to go. The Left told her the Trump supporters would harass her until she left and the Right told her Antifa would show up to cause violence. There is a small grain of truth in both warnings, but that grain has been blown up to be all encompassing. And while it might look like I was picking on Dems, I was not. However this example showed a Democrat that opened her mind and looked at things as they are, not as they are broadcast to be.

Democrats, in my humble opinion, have shot themselves in both feet already. The only question in my mind is the size of the mandate we hand to Trump.

Here is just a small sampling of Democratic “errors”:

1. Selection of Kamala Harris as the running mate. The same Harris who, in spite of her anti-crime record as California AG, became the MOST LIBERAL Senator. I am sorry – she tied for the honor with Elizabeth Warren – they were BOTH left of Comrade bernie.

2. Biden has taken to attacking the violence, riots and looting after the DNC confirmed his choice. Too little, too late, in my opinion.

3. The Democrats have no solution for the problems facing this country. Just hype.

4. Look around yourself – do you see anybody willing to sacrifice him/herself for BLM?

5. Have we ever had a President able and willing to stand up to the biggest bully in the world, China?
