It’s just a flavoring, not essential to the recipe.
I’ve never heard of adding vanilla and can’t find a recipe that calls for it. Sounds kinda gross – too sweet.
In every recipe I’ve seen, vanilla extract seems good only for the smell/aroma factor. So little is used it couldn’t possibly add anything at all to the overall flavor.
I never put vanilla extract in Rice Krispie treats.
