I saw horsemeat offered for sale in a supermarket in France. But I never heard of anything in particular to watch out for.

No. Horse meat came on sale in Las Vegas when I was there back in 1973 and no mention was made about anything special to do. Except use meat tenderizer…

Thanks all. Maybe something different about the water or other things in the pot in combination with the horse meat, that could cause something dangerous? I don’t know.

@flo Do you eat any wild game? It’s generally better for you, no chemicals. I love it.

Horses aren’t raised to be tender for eating, so they can be tough. And not much marbling fat-wise.

@KNOWITALL maybe I have eaten wild game without knowing it.

With deer meat (venison) and other lean meats, beef fat is added to these meats that are ground (hamburger) to give them more flavor. Horse would be no different.
