Yes, I have and it bummed me out. I was left wondering why the individual asked the question in the first place. It seemed to me that they just wanted to share their opinion and decided to couch it in terms of a question.

Yes, but you have to be prepared to defend your position, OR be prepared to change your mind – the beauty of FLUTHER!

Yes. When my answer actually was incorrect, I felt embarressed. When it was a matter of opinion I got upset.

Yes. If I was wrong, I am OK with saying so. If not, I will usually say that too.

They are petty, and there will always be a know it all jackass on Fluther and everywhere. What they can’t see is how another person is viewing their character. I take these type of people with a grain of salt and their answers, because they have lost all my respect for even given a decent comment. Some people here love this type of hateful/hostile drama…I for one don’t. They could easily email you and tell you, but they love to post it on the boards instead. These type of people are very small in my eyes.

They live to embarass or humiliate another person…best response you can give is ignore them.

Yes, and it hurt Babo’s feelings.

See this thread for a recent example of where my answer was criticized (in my opinion erroneously).

This is an answer I got from a user regarding my stand on capital punishment. I don’t mind being wrong.

You’re wrong about virtues of Christianity
And you’re wrong if you agree with Sean Hannity
If you think that pride is about nationality, you’re wrong
You’re wrong when you imprison people turning tricks
And you’re wrong about trickle down economics
If you think that punk rock doesn’t mix with politics, you’re wrong
You’re wrong for hating queers and eating steers
If you kill for the thrill of the hunt
You’re wrong ‘bout wearing fur and not hating Ann Coulter
Cause she’s a cunted cunt
You’re wrong if you celebrate Columbus Day
And You’re wrong if you think there will be a Judgement Day
If you’re a charter member of the NRA, you’re wrong
*You’re wrong if you support capital punishment
And you’re wrong if you don’t question your government*
If you think her reproductive rights are inconsequent, you’re wrong
You’re wrong fighting Jihad, your blind faith in God
Your religions are all flawed,
You’re wrong about drug use, when its not abuse
I hope you never reproduce
You’re getting high on the downlow
A victim of Cointelpro
You’re wrong and will probably never know

I have been modded, expunged, scolded, corrected, criticized, sanctified, deified, satanized, sanitized and libelled. A very interesting dynamic occurs here, often. I like being wrong, I like being right; I don’t like being told I have male sexual organs…

The question awhile back about the potential for a little one finding mommy’s naughty photos pissed me off. Only because the asker withheld crucial information about the personality of said mommy, then berated the others (including myself) for taking anything but a rude, insensitive approach to the issue. What a jerk.

I wish people could lose lurve points for being rude to others. It really sucks the fun out of Fluther.

Yes. If it’s about facts and I’m actually wrong it doesn’t bother me. If I’m being told my thoughts and ideas about something are wrong then that is a different story.

cyndyh's avatar

There’s nothing wrong with discussing and debating here. Sometimes people are going to disagree and tell you you’re wrong. I think that’s not necessarily rude in and of itself. I’m ok with people telling me I’m wrong if they’re willing to back it up or discuss their reasons. That’s really different than someone just trolling or trying to pick a fight.

I really want to know when I’m factually wrong, because I can’t stand the idea of continuing to be in possession of so-called “facts” that are inaccurate.

So, when I make an error, I’m grateful to the person who publicly or privately informs me of my mistake(s), because, in a way, they are “improving me” (intellectually or otherwise) by doing so.

I may have a bit of a problem with the WAY such is done, but not the fact that it was done.

I would also hope that the individual pointing out my error would be equally receptive to my pointing out his/her own error(s), should they occur.
