Sentences with line breaks seems like a pretty apt description to me; and not all that remarkable either, as sentences go.
I’ve noticed that a lot of people who represent themselves as poets don’t actually read any real poetry, and neither do their admirers, never mind having devoted any studious attention to it. So they have no basis of comparison and no standard to aspire to. They don’t even know the forms and conventions or the meaning of imagery, symbolism, cadence, etc. It’s just a little emoting, perhaps using some pretty words. There’s more to poetry than that.
My son, when he was much younger, was apparently impressed by a YouTube piano performance and sent me a link. I played it a couple of times, looking for what was special about it. It was a pretty basic piece with simple harmony and no chords to speak of, just a single treble and bass line. Finally I concluded that he simply didn’t know anything about piano playing and sent him a link to a performance by Martha Argerich.
