Any job where people are respectful and kind. All the jobs I worked at were like that.

Bus driver.

People always thank the driver here when alighting.

I pretty much thank anyone who performs any sort of service, from doctors to UPS drivers. I don’t know why anyone shouldn’t be thanked for doing what they do. Sure, it’s a job and typically not a personal favor. But in any job, people have a choice of how well to perform and how much to care about what they do. Recognition of effort and competence has meaning.

I thank my waitress for doing a good job. I always thank my bank teller for doing her job right.

Like Jeruba, I thank a lot of people. Gosh, I’m so used to thanking people that I’ve actually thanked people that I’ve helped – on more than one occasion. I feel silly when I realize what I’ve done, but oh well.
