It means I’m not a real princess :(
Seriously I’m not a scholar in Depression era economics, but I’ve always assumed that the US middle class emerged from lower wage workers during and following WW II. They never really stopped working in wage hour jobs, pay and benefits just improved.
And if thats right it seems like the same connection is in place now. What’s changed is that most employment today is in the tech & service sectors rather than manufacturing. Earnings for workers in these jobs has lagged behind what most people think of as middle class incomes, but social and economic pressure over the last 15 years is slowly pushing wages up.
So if this all works out I could still end up with a few diamonds and a steady boyfriend. Wish me luck.
