Do you ever feel like you get the brunt of your S/Os ire over a previous relationship?

“Great Question” (1points)

My wife was married once before, years ago. The guy was a cheater. I don’t, won’t, and never will, but when I have a rare chance to go out for a quick brew with a bus, she goes nuts. Thinks I’m out to chase women. Really don’t think that’s fair to me?

My boss was passing though town the other day, heading back to Austin after checking a rental property he has in a neighboring town, and called to see if I wanted to go have a beer with him. I had to pass, its not worth the B.S. I have to put up with from the wife. I don’t chase women, and I’m way to old for that crap anyway. Nor does the boss, so I figured, what the hell. And he’s a retired cop who wears his badge he got at his retirement on his belt, plus he was going to drive, so if he got pulled over that’s on him. Yo, Im just a passenger, and I figure he could BS his way out of a ticket anyway, as long as he’s under the limit. But I knew my wife would go nuts, so I let it pass. And in a way it pisses me off, that I have to bear the brunt of her resentment of something she went thru with another guy. over 40 freaking years ago. Am I wrong, or do I have a legitimate point? Again, Im only talking a couple of beers with another dude, not chasing some 20 something girl young enough to be my damn grand daughter. Im not a damn perv.

My wife’s first husband took advantage of her, specifically the little money she made. Her mother did this as well.
She is always worried I will steal her money, which is ridiculous.

Going out for a beer with a “bus” is just weird.

LOLL!

Dutchess_III's avatar

In the early days I did.

With a bud, I meant. That “bus” was a typo, which you have maybe 20 seconds to fix after you post a question. So there @janbb : ) And that would be another question some one might address to the mods. A bit more time to edit a Q after posting.

Maybe invite her along.
Talk honestly with her about her past fears and not to fear that you would do that since you love her.
She just needs you to “SHOW’ her that you care more often.
Sometimes I think that some people cause what they fear unknowingly..in that they may drive their partner to cheat, one day out of spite?

Dutchess_III's avatar

Actually you have up to 10 minutes to edit.

@Inspired_2write. Nah I could never do that, out of spite or any other reason. It pisses me off, but I’ll deal with it.

It sucks. But “for better or worse” probably includes emotional baggage. :/

(Was totally envisioning a party bus.)

@raum Yup. I took my vows seriously. My wife is more important than going for a beer. Woulda been fun though. He’s a crazy dude lol. And you cant get in trouble hanging out with a 25 year career copper.
