Has anyone on Fluther written and performed stand up comedy at an open mic night?

“Great Question” (1points)

If so, care to share your experience? How did you do?

I’ve been writing a lot of stand up material and I plan on performing on open mic night at my local coffee shop whenever it reopens after the pandemic. I think I have some funny material, but I still need to work on my delivery and comedic timing.

Good luck.

I am good with puns and reactive humor, but I couldn’t pull off a comedy performance.

No, but I did on off the cuff “performance” one night in an office, to extricate myself from an embarrassing situation. It worked and people were cracking up. But I couldn’t do that at a club or whatever. This incident was just distraction.

@rockfan: You might find the Netflix documentary series “Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” to be informative. Every episode is about 20 minutes long, and Jerry has a different classic car in each. He talks about the car, picks up the guest who is a different comedian every episode, and they drive and chat and then have coffee. They talk about comedy, all kinds of comedy and all kinds of comedians, from stand up to TV and movie comedians. It’s like an intimate conversation with a comedian.
