It may be the draught from the fan that is giving you a headache. Why not open a window to stay cool at night?

If you think that dirt on the fan is a problem, clean it better. Moist towel. Some sort of spray cleanser. It is hard to believe that the dirt is to caked on that it is not removable.

Dirt aside, the sound of the fan – low pitched or high pitched rumble – may be subtly affecting your sleep or your ears.

The fan itself is not the source of the dust, if the dust is what is causing the problem. Get some kind of air cleaner that cleans the air in the room, like a water fountain.

Yes, the dust from your fan can cause you headaches. It could cost you sore throat and blocked nose as well. All these are symptoms of dust allergy. The only way you can be free of them (aside not using your fan) is – clean the fan thoroughly. Then, keep the fan clean and dust free by giving it the good ol dustoff every week.
