In a very Jewish area you want to be able to set the elevator to open on every floor on its own. Also, be able to set it with opening on every floor only in one direction and then express in the other direction. Maybe it’s useful for other reasons besides the Sabbath and Jewish holidays.
Nice to be able to see out, but some people feel a floor to ceiling glass side is scary. Maybe a more typical waist to 7 ft would be more comfortable, but I’ve never seen it.
You want it to work well; the truth is they usually do. When they don’t, they do things like bounce when they stop, don’t line up well with the floor, and of course getting stuck is really not good. Many years ago I remember my dad reading ti me that elevators were the safest mode of transportation.
I grew up around elevators as a young girl and I think we are taught things that maybe people in more rural areas never learn like when waiting for the elevator, always make sure the elevator is there when the doors open before stepping forward. Or, use the up button to call the elevator if you want to go up, and the down button if you want to go down. I see people hit both.
