I notice that even if they are posted in general, some people ask the OP why they’ve asked that or just make comments that are irrelevant to the question itself. Some reply with even more questions and not a single answer. Some assume stuff that is not even there.

At the end, when you look at the whole thread, very few people have actually answered the question and instead derailed it.

Do you question the validity of the question before you answer it? Do you value the question from the OP standpoint even if you wouldn’t have asked that question yourself? Do you try to actually stick to the question and try to provide a helpful answer? Do you remind yourself the OP is in the general section?
