All are true.
1. I sang and dressed as the Beatles in a Group in Grade nine Stage show.
2. Unwittingly coerced into going to The Billy Graham Ministry in a coliseum that held 5000 and since he had called those that wished to be blessed by him to come to the stage my only ride home ( female Holy Roller Neighbor) literally ran to the stage leaving me behind.
Knowing that I needed her to get back home , I joined her only to be singled out by the stage hand to follow him up these steps.
I was face to face with a HUGE man towering at 6 “4” to my then 5 feet 6”. He had huge hands that enveloped my shoulders and quickly ‘convinced me to “just” come with him and not to worry”
Long story short…said some things which was broadcast on his mic…“I am Not Baptist I am Catholic”.
That I was only staying close to my friend as I had no way to get home.”
He in turn used that in his adlibbed speech/sermon and asked the 50000 people starring at me under a huge spotlight
” Is there someone here who will take this women home? “I was embarrassed as that sounded a little too ambiguous…meaning as if trying to get a man for me to take me home???
3.In the 1960’s NO ID required to obtain cigarettes.
My Father was not able to go so he threw his car keys at me to get him some.( I had never driven a car before nor had a license) I was 17 yrs old, but after that he let me take the car and I observed his driving habits ( going up the wrong way on a one way street, in order to take a shortcut to our parking stall.
I got used to doing that but one day a oncoming car speeded off the highway onto that one way street coming towards me blasting his horn.
I calmly kept going and had lots of time to pull into the parking lot , so I did successfully.
Unfortunately both the Gas Station employees and my Dad in the apartment window observed what I did.
Dad got an ear full from the Gas Station attendants ( his friends) for HIS bad habits rubbing off onto me.
WE both took the long way around to the parking stall after that.
But it was a thrill and soon I was driving on my own and eventually got my license after a couple of years driving without one.
