I don’t remember the story, but I think the basic idea was that it provided Peter with more stability. He still became Spider-Man, but not out of guilt, just a sense of responsibility. Ben was there to repeat his advice, “With great power comes great responsibility.”

No. Peter’s uncle would be more loyal to his nephew than to J. Jonah Jameson.

Probably not, but Uncle Ben would advise Peter Parker against being Spider-Man. His saying can’t have meant that Spider-Man should fight villains, at least not physically.
